Welcome

Greetings from the Intermountain West District of LCMC! We are an association of Lutheran churches in Utah and Southern Idaho doing the work of the kingdom of God together. If you’d like to know more about us, browse our website, and if your questions aren’t answered please send us an email!

About

The purpose of Intermountain West District is to support our common mission to bear witness to the good news that sinners are put right with God through repentance and faith alone in Jesus Christ. We take it upon ourselves to resist any corruption of this Gospel and support fellow congregations who seek to do likewise. This means that we will live in such a way as to serve the Kingdom of God by faithfulness to God’s Word as law and gospel, center our witness on the cross of Christ and give ourselves to God without reservation as servants and workers.

As with our national association, Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ, we are an association of congregations who are free in Christ, accountable to one another and rooted in the scriptures and the Lutheran confessions.

Devotionals

Pastoral Devotion – James 1:12

The tests and trials of life can sometimes be overwhelming. There is phrase that I often heard growing up: “God won’t allow you to go through more than you can handle.” Hmm . . . is that so? I know that God does not tempt us to sin nor does He dump trashcans of moral evil on our heads. He is holy and good. Yet He does test us in His omniscient love. And if rely on our own strength during any divine tests, we will certainly fail every time.

Pastoral Devotion 7 – 1 Corinthians 1:10-17

I think we can all safely agree that we are living in incredibly divided times. We are divided by political party; we are divided by sports teams; we are divided by race; we are divided by gender. We are divided by so many things we are even divided by what Jesus we follow: a Lutheran Jesus, a Baptist Jesus, a Catholic Jesus — all these different divisions are everywhere we look!
